The main purpose of these events is to allow people, especially foreigners/tourists to get a deeper understanding and appreciation of Balinese culture. The word Tumpek itself comes from “Metu” which means to meet, and “Mpek” which means the end, so Tumpek is the day of the meeting of the Panca Wara and Sapta Wara warrants.

TUMPEK UDUH

 March 15th – 16th, 2025

At a glance …

Tumpek Uduh, or also often called tumpek wariga or tumpek bubuh, is celebrated by Balinese every 210 days, or 25 days before Galungan Day, namely every Dina Saniscara (Saturday) Kliwon Wuku Wariga.

Tumpek Uduh is a ceremony related to the environment, especially preserving good trees that produce leaves, flowers and fruits.

The universe has hidden powers, which can be utilized well and correctly, such as tropical tree assets, plants that are abundant around us. If we can utilize them well, they will make us prosperous and have a positive influence on our lives, but if we use them badly, they will be detrimental and have a negative influence on life, plants that are well maintained, maintaining their existence and maintaining them properly, will have a positive impact on humans on a physical and spiritual scale, especially for the natural environment itself.

As an expression of gratitude, Balinese offer banten ajuman/soda and sumsum porridge (made from rice flour, sprinkled with coconut and liquid brown sugar). The tree is also filled with ceniga. And underneath it are shredded segehan.
